Freiburg im Breisgau is the southernmost major city in Germany and is often bathed in sunshine. The University Hospital’s central clinic is located in the west of Freiburg. The (children and youth) psychiatry, psychosomatics and dermatology clinic is found in the northern city district of Herdern.
Public transport: If you are traveling by plane, EuroAirport Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg is particularly convenient as it is only an hour’s bus ride from Freiburg. The airports in Zurich, Stuttgart and Frankfurt are good alternatives. You can take tram line 5 (stop: Robert-Koch-Straße) from Freiburg train station to the hospital.
By car: A number of parking spaces is available for those traveling by car; the hospital is signposted in the city.
Most sights in Freiburg are very close to each other; the city lends itself to a pleasant stroll through the historic old town. Quaint and unique shops line twisting alleyways with student pubs. Listen to the calming trickle of the water channels characteristic of Freiburg, known as “Bächle” - just don’t step in! If the sun is shining, you can relax over a coffee or local wine on Münsterplatz. A tour through Freiburg Minster or the Augustiner Museum is also highly recommended. A day trip to the southern Black Forest is almost obligatory when visiting Freiburg. Take a breath of fresh air in the unspoiled, awesome nature of the conservation area and discover picturesque villages and inns during your walk.
